Israel Story’s internship program is a vital part of our team’s operations.
Internship cohorts consist of 1 to 3 people, and interns participate in every stage of the production process, from pitching, researching, and reporting stories, to editing, uploading, and publicizing them. In addition to production tasks, interns are also assigned to work with our producers on various institutional tasks like answering team emails, running social media accounts, and editing our website. Israel Story prides itself on being a meritocracy, so good ideas are pursued, regardless of where they come from, and interns are encouraged to speak up, get involved, and pursue ideas about which they are passionate.
The position is based in Jerusalem, but we are also open to interns living in Tel Aviv, as long as they are willing to come to our Jerusalem offices 3 days a week. Regardless of location, however, this isn’t a full-time office job: you’ll also get to explore the country as you help us find and tell the stories of Israel’s most interesting characters.
Israel Story interns are self-starters and have the opportunity to be involved in every step of podcast production. Through the training they receive at our show, they leave the internship prepared to produce high-quality audio content, and engage in storytelling that challenges the boundaries of traditional genres. Israel Story internship alumni have gone on to hold positions at This American Life, The New York Times, Pineapple Street Media, and Harvard’s Neiman Fellowship, among others.
Positions require a 6-month commitment, which could lead to a longer-term, paid job. The position is unpaid, but transportation is covered.
Candidates with experience in audio production, storytelling, journalism, multimedia production, musical production, scoring, production logistics, and/or social media are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interns assist in managing artists, the artists’ publicity, and the company’s publicity. They also work together on marketing, branding, music distribution, and correspondence. Interns can work in video production filming music videos and events along with making compilations and editions. Sound engineering is available 4 days a week working in the studio with the CEO of the company who is a DJ. Graphic designers can make album covers, DJ PR, design flyers and posters for events. Interns also try to branch out and get DJs’ radio airplay all over the world.
So, four areas: music and video distribution: promoting songs and videos through social media. contact record labels, radio stations. artist management: pair up with an artist and work with them. Event coordination: inception and creation of events. Up to one thousand people events. Multi-Media: pair up with a professional in an industry – photography, videos, logos. A weekly column in JPost. I can go into the studio two times a week for sound engineering.
The only real requirements are motivation and a will to learn. Most of our interns are college students and graduates, but any experience level is welcome.
