Keshev empowers teens, young adults, and those that work with them to strengthen their wellbeing and mental health.

With an interdisciplinary methodology and holistic approach, we offer multiple services to support healthy social-emotional development, including mental health certification, individual counseling, group workshops, and organizational consulting. We aim to create a positive culture and environment through every program where staff and participants feel supported and cared for.

Every year tens of thousands of teens and young adults participate in immersive and educational experiences in Israel through Masa. These programs often strive to facilitate the participants’ connections to Judaism, Israel and one another while developing a healthier sense of self. Exploring one’s identity coupled with the sensitivities and sensibilities of this formative stage of development in a foreign context, provides a greater susceptibility to mental health concerns and it is in this context that Keshev and Masa would like to create a culture and offer a standard that allows students and staff to truly thrive. It is in this context that Masa, seeing itself as the pioneer in the field of Mental health on Experiential programs will be offering through Keshev many different opportunities for the programs to create a safer and healthier space for every Masa Fellow.

Post College Offerings

The Masa-Keshev Mental Health Certification Intensive trains educators to recognize, evaluate and react to symptoms of eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and mental health disorders as well as manage issues relating to group dynamics. This unique course provides a general framework for mental health and wellbeing within the context of experiential and immersive programs. Based on evidence-based research, best practices and reviewed by experts worldwide, we encourage early detection of specific illnesses and conditions; teach concrete skills regarding appropriate responses and offer resources for further exploration.

The 8-hour program is tailor-made to the specific context of each program and contains skills that are applicable beyond this framework. Every professional who completes the day-training and passes the exam will be certified by United Hatzalah Mental Health as a First Responder.

Masa is offering this training free of charge to staff of Post-College programs.

Advanced Training Workshops and Communities of Practice

In order to deep-dive into real cases with which professionals on the ground are working, we have designed a community of practice format wherein professionals collaborate together on detecting and managing issues in their groups.  Each community of practice will include 4 meetings throughout the year. This program is designךed for professionals who are living with the Fellows on a day-to-day basis. (what does this mean?)

Community of Practice conversation and content includes: anxiety, depression, resilience and how to overcome challenges, substance abuse, addictions and dangerous behaviors, and emotional preparation for the end of the programs.

*Meetings are limited in number and will only be available for the first 15 participants who sign up.

*Workshops are open only to those who completed the Certification Intensive

Masa is offering this training free of charge to staff of Gap Year programs.
