I grew up in a strong Jewish community outside of Boston where Israel was a frequent topic of conversation and an integral part of my identity. As a kid, I learned to love Israel from my family, synagogue and community.
But it wasn’t until I was in high school that I started to think critically about why Israel mattered so much to me.
Why did I feel such a strong connection to a foreign country? What does Israel really mean to my community.
