Safety is Masa’s top priority, and the organization has operated programs continuously since 2004 through multiple security situations, including the current conflict.
Every Masa volunteer housing unit includes accessible safe rooms that meet Israeli Home Front Command standards. Masa’s Chief Security Officer, Amir Keinan, monitors security conditions 24/7 and provides real-time updates to all participants and staff. Programming is adjusted immediately based on security assessments — if a volunteer site or travel route poses any risk, alternatives are arranged same-day.
All participants receive comprehensive health and travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, and trip interruption. Staff from both Masa and your program organizer are available around the clock for any security or personal concerns.
Masa’s security infrastructure includes: real-time situation monitoring with direct channels to Israeli security services, pre-departure safety briefings and orientation, safe rooms in all volunteer housing, continuous security assessments with programming adjustments as needed, 24/7 on-call staff, and an interactive safety video from CSO Amir Keinan available before departure.
Over 220,000 participants have completed Masa programs since 2004. The organization’s track record of safe operations through various security conditions reflects decades of institutional expertise in participant safety.
