Activities:

  • At this time of the year, it is a common practice to set new goals for ourselves.  This concept can be visualized by a bullseye target – the center is your goal and where you are now shows the distance that you need to cover – how you can measure (למדוד) your improvement in that area.  The following activities help students learn vocabulary to speak about these ideas in relation to their own lives.

Vocabulary:  goal, improve, get better at, work on, aim, try, work harder

  • Help students develop personal goals in various categories (school, family, friends, environment, hobbies).  Feel free to use these prompts for conversation with the students.

My goals this year:

At school – I want to __________________________________________

My family – I want to __________________________________________

My friends – I want to __________________________________________

The environment – I can ________________________________________

My hobbies – I want to __________________________________________

  • Give the students a bullseye worksheet for organizing their goals.  You can use colored stickers or simply use markers.  Help the students identify 4-5 personal goals in different categories.  Depending on their English levels, you can write the goals for them or help them write the words themselves.  Be sure to have the students TALK about their bullseye worksheets after they make them.
