Nishmat's Alisa Flatow International program offers a unique opportunity for English-speaking women of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities to study Jewish texts in a warm and intellectually stimulating environment.
Nishmat’s hands-on approach to Torah study teaches women skills to understand and analyze classic texts, and to reflect on how they inform modern Jewish studies, thought and practice. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes, allowing each student to grow in their Torah learning.
The Alisa Flatow Program prides itself on its diverse student body, exceptional and devoted scholars and Rabbis, and the opportunity to study Torah in the larger context of a bustling Beit Midrash with a variety of learners.
Courses such as Tanach (Bible), Halacha (Jewish Law), Talmud, Ethics and Jewish Philosophy, place emphasis on learning with a partner; students are encouraged to explore difficult questions and to hone their text skills.
Our warm and supportive faculty is available in and out of the classroom, taking time to help students in their personal development and spiritual growth. Faculty members and Nishmat alumnae across Israel open their homes to students for Shabbat and Chagim.
In addition to formal classes, we offer a full extra-curricular program, including volunteer placement in the local community and organized trips to nature and historical sites throughout Israel.
Nishmat's English speakers bring their varied educational and professional experience to form their own supportive community of women growing in Judaism. At the same time, they are part of the larger Israeli Nishmat community, sharing Shabbatonim and holidays together in their home away from home.

About Jerusalem

The city where past and present meet. Established over 3,000 years ago, the city of Jerusalem offers you the chance to literally reach out and touch the past. Known as the city of gold, Jerusalem is a magical mix of ancient and modern, where outdoor shuks (markets) rub shoulders with gleaming office towers. The city's most popular spots include a vibrant downtown with world-class restaurants and shopping, and the Old City, a maze of winding alleyways and colorful markets enclosed by walls dating back to the 16th century.
