With its city name meaning “fresh” in Hebrew, Raanana provides its residents with exactly that feeling. Designated a “Green City” by the World Health Organization in 2005, Raanana is one of four cities in Israel to have joined the international organization ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability (the other three being Jerusalem, Kfar Saba, and Shoham). In a city like this, there’s enough green space to go around, offering plenty of walking space, trees, sports fields, and more to keep the outdoor mentality alive. Interested in a bit of bustling city life? Raanana is only 20 minutes from Tel Aviv by car, and 40 by train.
