About MITF with Israel Experience

Masa Israel Teaching Fellows with Israel Experience provides exceptional Jewish college graduates the opportunity to join a 10 month English teaching service-learning program that addresses Israel’s educational achievement gap and the widespread underperformance of youth in the low-income communities of Bat-Yam, Rishon Le’Tzion, and Ramle. As an Israel Teaching Fellow, you will complete 100+ hours of teacher training, work in 3rd – 8th-grade classrooms for a minimum of 20 hours a week, receive 10 months of Hebrew language classes, volunteer within your new Israeli community, and explore the beauty, history, and culture of Israel through insightful seminars and tours. Everyone remembers that teacher who made a difference. The teacher who cared, who was creative, who was dedicated to seeing you succeed. Now it is your chance to be the one whose name your students will never forget.

MITF Israel Experience Cities

Bat Yam

Located on the Mediterranean Sea, just south of Tel Aviv, Bat Yam has clean beaches, bars and restaurants, cultural centers, and more. With multiple forms of public transportation operating to and from Yafo and Tel Aviv, Bat Yam is an oasis of peace and quiet outside of the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Classroom sizes in Bat Yam range from 20-30 students. Masa Israel Teaching Fellows might be working in elementary schools, middle schools, or high schools depending on the needs of the school district.

Rishon LeZion

Serving as the 4th largest city in Israel, Rishon holds thriving metropolitan centers, parks, cultural areas and active nightlife. From its establishment in the late 1800’s, until now, the city has rapidly grown, and developed an urban lifestyle while still maintaining a strong sense of community.

Schools were built in the middle of the city neighborhoods in order to serve as centers of community life. All schools adhere to the principle of educational equality. The extremely varied socioeconomic statuses and cultures Rishon holds make for a truly unique experience.

Ramle

Ramle offers the perfect opportunity for someone looking to make a huge impact in Israel. Ramle is a low-income area where only 47% of high school students graduate with a Bagrut matriculation certificate (a certificate that is required to continue to higher education). Ramle is home to a richly diverse population of Jewish- and Arab-Israelis, and 24% of its residents comprise immigrant communities from the Former Soviet Union and Ethiopia. Ramle is located conveniently between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and is a brief bus or train ride from either city. Ramle is a beautiful blend of ancient and modern Israel, featuring historical landmarks such as the White Tower and the Pool of Arches. Streets are fragrant with captivating smells of exotic foods from the shuk (outdoor market) and abuzz with the sounds of conversations held in multiple languages.
