Yesterday, I had the opportunity to teach my students about the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving! The students had so much fun learning about all of the foods we eat and talking about all of the things that they are thankful for. For our activity, I had the students create “turkey crowns” that they could bring home and share with their families. Two of my fellow teachers who work at a different school shared this activity with me, and the kids loved it! Each student had to write down something that they were thankful for on each of the turkey’s wings. It was really sweet to see what the students came up with and also a great way for them to learn some new vocabulary words.

After talking about Thanksgiving all day long with the kids, I got to come back and prepare for our Masa “Friends-giving” celebration. This was organized by some people in our Netanya cohort (which is in total 30 Americans/Canadians).  A google doc was created beforehand so everyone knew what they were bringing and there was SO much good food. It was so heartwarming to have everyone together and of course eat all of the delicious food. We stuck to a mainly “traditional” thanksgiving menu, however there were some variations and new additions that made the meal that much more fun. It is during moments like these that I feel so grateful to be a part of such a community and have a home away from home.

This weekend we have off on Sunday, so we are getting ready to have a fun long weekend! My roommates and I are going to hike part of the Israel trail on Saturday and then spend the day in Acre (Akko) on Sunday! Overall, I am having a very festive weekend and enjoying every moment of it!
