We have compiled resources from organizations that consider this year’s unique and challenging context to provide framing for these National Days. Our goal is to connect the fellows to Israeli society through the frame of the National Days, and through the Israelis they know best: their organizers, madrichim, and coordinators.  Explore below the different resources. 

 

                                                                                 

Through Israeli Eyes 

To share the Israeli experience with fellows this year, we don’t need to look far. Fellows can gain deeper understanding of the Israeli National Days through Israelis they already know: their madrichim and coordinators. In this session, we will explore how storytelling and asking the right questions can engage fellows and connect them more deeply with the Israeli narrative surrounding Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom HaAtzmaut.

Hartman Institute: Words and Rituals of Sorrow and Comfort

The site offers various texts from diverse Jewish concepts (religious, traditional, reform, secular). Using the texts, organizers can connect what we are going through now to our shared history and find comfort through it. For now, only in Hebrew.

Yosef Abramson: Performance and Storytelling

Injured in Operation Protective Edge in 2014, Yosef thought he wouldn’t play guitar again. After years of rehabilitation, he can play guitar again, and now shares his story through music. Through his musical workshops, fellows learn about Jewish Identity, overcoming obstacles and being brave, and the realities of PTSD.
