Description
The internship position is “Robotics Navigation and Computer Vision Engineer ”. The intern’s responsibility is tailoring a mono camera-based SLAM (“Simultaneous Localization And Mapping”) algorithm to a robot navigating wooden decks and utilizing the created map to drive the robot’s high-level decision making so it is capable to accomplish various tasks, like cleaning the deck, staining it in a systematic manner, returning to a base station, etc. The wooden decks navigating robot is under development and is already capable to traverse the deck autonomously. Developed algorithms would run in a Linux environment, operated by RPI4 under ROS (Robotic Operating System) environment
Example tasks would be:
• Survey existing (open source) SLAM algorithms.
• Select and tailor a SLAM system to the developed robot
• Develop a high-level decision-making algorithm
• Test the system’s performance in real decks scenarios
