Job Description

The internship offers prospective applicants the opportunity to learn the foundations of nonprofit fundraising and gain a competitive edge in the nonprofit field all while helping Israel’s most impoverished receive vital educational and social services. While he/she will primarily work on researching new potential donor foundations and drafting letters of inquiry, the intern will be immersed in all aspects of the Jaffa Institute’s development program, including composing newsletters, updating the Institute’s website, and hosting donors on site visits.

Interns will:
work with the development team to draft proposals and letters of inquiry to foundations
create press releases and newsletters
learn how to develop a foundation fundraising strategy
research foundation prospects, determine a foundations interests and find a match within the Jaffa Institute’s range of programming.
assist in updating the Institute’s website
participate in hosting donors at our various program sites with the Visits Coordinator.

9-1pm: Engage in research activities, draft letters of inquiry, help with website, newsletters etc.
2-4 pm: Help with sites visiting. Helping visitors to volunteer and understand more about the organization (the site visits are not every day and the times vary)
4-5pm: Continue helping in the daily activities of the fundraising department.

Qualifications

Interns should:
have an interest in development and fundraising, particularly within a non-profit environment
be committed to advancing equality through education in low-income neighborhoods
exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills
have excellent computer skills, including, but not limited to, solid knowledge of Microsoft Office
possess knowledge of internet and/or library resources for research
employ strategic and creative thinking as well as the ability to multi-task
