Open to university graduates and attracting a diverse cohort, the Year/Semester Program combines classic Jewish text study with the exploration of ethical, spiritual, philosophical, legal and societal issues facing the Jewish people today. Students leave Pardes with refined critical thinking, improved communication and interpersonal skills, and more nuanced and sensitive perspectives on Judaism, Israel and their own role in the world.

Students participate in seminar-style classes and havruta (partner study), and create a tailored program to reflect their interests.

Program Description

Midreshet Harova offers an ideal setting for mature and motivated women from Israel and around the world who wish to achieve spiritual and intellectual growth in a religious Zionist framework that combines intimate settings with the resources of a large educational institution. Its open intellectual environment, combined with a wide variety of faculty, is particularly attractive to the creative student interested in exploring a range of ideas and approaches.

Students participate in a full day of learning focused on chevruta study, and development of textual skills that create the necessary basis for continued learning and growth after leaving the Midrasha. Programs focusing on current events and the political situation in Israel are a regular part of the informal education program, as is an annual journey to Poland that serves as the focal point of the Midrasha’s Holocaust education program.

Program Description

The Derech Institute for Torah Studies at Ohr Somayach is designed for motivated post-high school students who may not have had a strong formal Jewish education but who have the intellectual capabilities and motivation to independently study classical Jewish texts.

Daily, in-depth shiurim in Talmud, Mishnah and Gemara will teach you vocabulary, reading skills and textual analysis and provide you with background information and an introduction to the fascinating world of classical Talmudic commentaries of all periods. Chesed (giving to others) activities such as packing food parcels for poor families, helping the elderly, and mentoring underprivileged youth are also an integral part of the curriculum.
