Haifa University - MA in Peace & Conflict Management Studies

Program Description

The MA in Peace and Conflict Management Studies at the University of Haifa combines an in-depth understanding of theory with applications from a regional and international perspective. Students will investigate ethno-national, cultural and religious conflicts in deeply divided societies. They will study and evaluate different approaches to conflict management and peacemaking, while immersing themselves in a region that offers a great deal of relevant real-life case studies.

The interdisciplinary program was created to give students a solid background of theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on field experience. The program focuses on the nature of conflicts and how they develop, peace processes and the ways to foster them, research methodology and field practicum. In addition to the practicum, students will gain exposure to NGOs for Arab-Jewish and Israeli-Palestinian coexistence and Middle East peace processes. The curriculum includes both thesis and non-thesis tracks, and takes place over the course of three semesters.

Graduates with a degree in peace and conflict management studies may become researchers, educators, mediators, negotiators, government officials, activists, professionals in organizations focused on human rights, dispute resolution, environmental protection, international law and human and economic development.

Open to college graduates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
