SELAH – the Aardvark Israel Jewish Enrichment track is based on the biblical word Selah, meaning "stop and listen" or "pause and think about that,” which is the theme of our unique and intensive Jewish educational track.
The Selah track is a nine month long, non-coercive, co-ed program aimed for people who want to explore their Jewish identity in an open and inspiring environment. This is an opportunity, as young adults living away from home, to take a moment and think about what it means for you to be Jewish.
Living in two of the most exciting cities in the world, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, participants in the Selah track will have a variety of opportunities to build a strong connection with Israel and further develop their understanding of Judaism. The Selah staff consists of highly gifted rabbis and educators, and the curriculum includes diving for Techelet, making shofarot, doing Kaparot with live chickens, visiting a mikvah, and a myriad of other unique experiences. Through studies, Shabbatonim, special volunteering projects, and interactions with Israelis, students will continue to be inspired throughout the year.
The Selah program mission is to develop a cadre of creative, young Jewish leaders inspired by Torah Lishmah
, motivated by a love of the Jewish People, and enthused by the rebirth of Medinat Yisrael
. The Selah track supplements the exciting and popular Aardvark Israel Gap Year program with a rich educational Jewish enrichment program.
