Highlights

Ramle-Lod
Destination Israel's flagship program was first established in the city of Ramle-Lod five years ago. A mixed population town with Arab and Jewish Israelis living in co-existence, Ramle is your number one destination to make a deep impact and change the world through education. Once the capital city of Israel, Ramle is considered the hub of Israel, conveniently located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. If your goal is to serve the community that most needs you, Ramle-Lod is the location for you!

Ashdod
Israels fifth largest port city, Ashdod is located on the Mediterranean coast, with a population of over 200,000 people. Many of these people are immigrants from countries such as Morocco, Egypt, Romania, Georgia, Former Soviet Union, Ethiopia, France and Argentina. Over 90% of Ashdod's population is Jewish. Participants live within walking distance to the beach, and convenient public transportation is available to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Masa Israel Teaching Fellows is highly subsidized by Masa Israel Journey and the Israeli Ministry of Education, reducing the program fee to $1000, which includes your round-trip flight, health insurance, and a monthly stipend.

Highlights

Our special MITF cities

Rishon LeZion
Only 10 miles south of Tel Aviv you will discover a vibrant and ever-growing community - the city of Rishon LeZion, lying on the beautiful shore line of the Mediterranean Sea. From its early days as the first settlement established by the new immigrants of the first Aliyah back in the late 1800s until our time, the city has rapidly grown to be the fourth largest city in Israel and a metropolitan center of the area. Rishon LeZion offers an urban life style with plenty of shopping centers, restaurants and bars, parks and of course the beach, while still maintaining a strong sense of community  with its special mix of different populations – sabras (native Isrelis), new immigrants from Ethiopia and Former Soviet Union and more.
MITF participants in Rishon LeZion will enjoy living in the center of town, in apartment buildings located no more than a short walking distance from one another, which are close to the central streets of the city offering great restaurants, cafes and shops, as well as convenient public transportation to Tel Aviv.

Petach Tikvah
The ultimate hands-on Israeli living experience awaits you in the city of Petach Tikvah, only 10 miles east of Tel Aviv. Petach Tikvah (“Opening of Hope” in Hebrew) has come a long way since its establishment as the first Jewish agricultural settlement in the center of Israel back in the 1870s, and has become the sixth largest city in the country. Today, Petach Tikvah is one of Israel’s leading business and technology centers, with world-known companies such as Intel and IBM setting their headquarters within the city. There are plenty of shopping centers, restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy around the city, and an excursion to Tel Aviv’s non-stop action is just a short bus ride away. The interesting thing about Petach Tikvah is that alongside these trends of development, the city has kept its simple and authentic, and very “salt of the earth” Israeli nature – with its fabulous open air shuk (market) that offers fresh goods and produce every day, amazing falafel and shawarma stands on the street corners and most importantly its warm people; the population of Petach Tikvah is very diverse and is comprised of Sabra Israelis, secular and religious, Sephardic and Ashenazi, and new immigrants from Ethiopia, Former Soviet Union, and more. If you want to truly immerse yourself in Israeli society and live like an Israeli – Petach Tikvah is the place for you!

Program Description

Spend ten months in Israel with Masa Tlalim! You’ll teach English, volunteer, and help close Israel’s educational achievement gap. Masa Israel Teaching Fellows are hands-on English educators who work in classrooms and small group settings in cities across Israel.

By working in Israel’s public school system, Fellows do not just teach English; they also serve as leaders in making their local communities better places to live, learn, and grow. In addition to teaching English, Fellows initiate community volunteer projects for approximately five hours each week.

Masa Tlalim offers teaching fellowships in three locations: Netanya, a beachside community on Israel’s Mediterranean coast; Be'er Sheva, a city in the heart of Israel's Negev Desert with a vibrant young adult population; and Beit She'an, located along the scenic Galilee.

Masa Israel Teaching Fellows is highly subsidized by Masa Israel Journey and the Israeli Ministry of Education, reducing the program fee to $1,000. This fee includes your round-trip flight to Israel, housing, and a monthly stipend.
