Jessica Schapiro oversees Masa Israel’s national partnerships in the American Jewish community. Jessica will develop partnerships with key community professionals, regional representatives of partner organizations and the Masa Israel alumni in order to help build the next generation of Jewish leaders. Before joining Masa Israel, Schapiro was the Manager of Affinity Groups at the Jewish National Fund. She is an accomplished nonprofit specialist with years of experience in strategic planning, event logistics, social media management, fundraising and executive communications. Schapiro holds a master’s degree in fundraising management from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and Judaic studies from George Washington University.
Alex Elman serves as the director of marketing and communications for Masa Israel Journey in the United States. Previously, Alex served as a digital strategist at Bully Pulpit Interactive, the digital agency founded by President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign digital advertising leaders.
At Bully Pulpit, Alex worked on many digital advertising campaigns for Friends of the IDF, political candidates and parties across the country, and Fortune 500 clients.
Alex got his start in advertising and communications working on the 2012 congressional campaign for Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) in Madison, Wisconsin, where he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in political science.
As Masa Israel’s North American COO, Meara manages the national recruitment and marketing efforts in the US, while expanding her vast global and local partner network.
Meara came to Masa from the hi-tech sector, where she served as C.O.O. at Boomset, an innovative event-tech company, managing sales and marketing, and spearheading global partnerships. Prior to joining Boomset, Meara held the position of V.P. of community outreach for Jspace.com, where she created and executed a marketing plan, as well as planned and produced mass-attended events.
True to Masa’s mission, Meara has lived it like a local, having spent significant time living, working, and studying in Israel. After receiving her B.A. from the University of Hartford, she was selected to participate in the Otzma program. In the years following, she moved to Miami to work with Young Judaea and returned to Israel to work for the Jewish Agency for Israel. Meara received an M.A. in non-profit management from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem while working for Beit Hatfutsot.
Meara has served as the board chair for Dor Chadash, and has sat on the board of directors of the American Zionist Movement and the Moatza in New York.
Estefania is originally from Brazil. She studied Architecture and Business Administration in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She participated in Lej Leja Masa Program for 8 months, where she did an internship and also met her husband.
She made Aliah a year ago and now she is living in Jerusalem.
Growing up in a Zionistic home near San Francisco, Shira has always had a passion for Judaism and Israel. After graduating from in Los Angeles in 2007, she enlisted in the IDF and has been in Israel ever since. She is proud to have the opportunity to live in the epicenter of Judaism, and loves sharing her many experiences with young Jews from around the world.
Yael Pearlman is an English Speaking Desk Representative in Masa's Jerusalem office. She has spent significant time in Israel, completeing a year of seminary through Masa and a year of National Service at Shaarie Tzedek Medical Center. She returned to New York to complete a BS in Psycology at CUNY in 2014, after which she made Aliyah. She currently lives in Jerusalem.
Jodi Taube, a New Jersey native, is an English Speaking Desk Representative in the Jerusalem office. She made Aliyah in 2009 after completing a Masa intership program. Previously, she ran a scholarhsip program for youth aging-out of the foster care system.
She has a passion for bringing people to Israel for transformative, live-changing experiences like that one she had. She now lives in Jerusalem with her husband and son.
