If you're a participant in a MASA-affiliated program, you are eligible to apply for a MASA scholarship.

How does the scholarship work?
MASA provides scholarships to participants in approved programs through the Program Organizer. Each participant must fill out the scholarship application form and send it to the Organizer. Upon receipt of the scholarship, the Organizer will reduce the program fees that it will collect from the participant by the scholarship amount or, alternatively, refund the participant in the amount of the MASA scholarship.

Every potential participant in a MASA-affiliated long term program is entitled to apply for a MASA scholarship.

What determines the amount of my MASA scholarship?
MASA scholarships are based on the combined criteria of country of origin and personal need. The goal is to help the applicant pay for his or her respective program's cost. The maximum amount of the scholarship is $10,000 (ten thousand U.S. dollars) per individual for a 10 month program. The actual amount of the scholarship will be determined separately for each participant after examining the participant’s information and needs. Even in the most extreme cases, however, a participant in a MASA-affiliated program who is eligible to receive a full scholarship is still personally responsible to pay a minimum of 5% of the program price. For shorter programs, the scholarship amount will be adjusted based on the program’s duration.

The individual scholarship awarded will be determined by the overall MASA project budget. Should budgetary conditions mandate, MASA may award less than the recommended amount.
