Q. I am a high school graduate going into my freshman year in college. Am I eligible for the $2,000 grant?
A. The academic grant is for students who are already enrolled in a university or college in their home country. Students who are just entering college or university are not eligible. They can, however, apply for a MASA scholarship.
Q. Does it matter whether I am coming to Israel on a university program in Israel for a semester or a year? A. No. Whether you are coming for a semester or for a year you are still eligible for the $2,000 grant.
Q. My program in Israel has an academic component. Am I eligible for a $2000 grant?
A. The grant is only for programs in academic institutions. If your program is not a university program you are not eligible to receive the grant. You can, however, still apply for a MASA scholarship.
Q. I think the grant is a great idea, but it's not going to be enough for me to spend the year in Israel. Do I still qualify for a MASA scholarship?
A. Even if you receive the grant, you can still apply for a MASA needs-based scholarship. In any event, we advise you to check out all the scholarship resources available to you.
Q. How do I get the grant?
A. Once you have begun the admissions process for your academic program in Israel, the program organizer will instruct you to complete a form requesting the grant.
Q. Are there strings attached to the grant?
A. Not really; But you are expected to be part of the Masa community, participate in your program and explore the many additional enrichment programs that Masa offers.
Q. If I get a needs-based scholarship, will it be added to the grant?
A. No. The grant will be included in the needs based scholarship (e.g. if your needs based scholarship is $5,000, you will receive $3,000 on top of the grant).
Q. If I am going on a graduate school program, would I be eligible to receive the grant?
A. No. The grant is only for undergraduate students.
