The Preparatory Program (Mechina) provides an introduction to academic studies and language instruction to recent high school graduates who plan to continue their undergraduate university studies in Israel. The year-long program serves as a gateway to the Hebrew-speaking Israeli society, while helping the student develop and refine the learning skills necessary for admission to the university in the following year. A supportive environment helps the student to become independent in a new country, culture and academic system. Academic and career counseling is provided.
Two tracks of study are offered: (1) Humanities and Social Sciences; (2) Exact and Life Sciences.
The program consists of intensive Hebrew and English language instruction, courses in Judaic/Israel studies, Mathematics or Statistics, and introductory courses which parallel regular university departmental courses. Most of the courses are taught in Hebrew.
What does it include?
The diverse academic offerings are complemented by a variety of exciting extra-curricular activities including seminars and tours.
Extras:
Housing on campus, security, libraries, computers, counseling services, extracurricular activities, madrichim (counselors), religious services and activities, an indoor sports complex, commercial services on campus.
* The Preparatory Program offers a number of introductory courses which parallel regular university departmental courses. Most introductory courses are taught in easy Hebrew. Students may enroll in courses offered by the Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences in Hebrew or in any other language, depending on their proficiency in Hebrew or the language of instruction.
