HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM
ROTHBERG INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
 
The Office of Academic Affairs of the Rothberg International School seeks an enthusiastic, motivated individual for the newly created position of Assistant Director of Admissions in the New York City office.

The Office of Academic Affairs markets the Rothberg International School programs in the United States and coordinates recruitment efforts, admissions, and orientation of American students attending the various Rothberg School programs.  In addition, the Office of Academic Affairs maintains continuous contact with families of Rothberg students, with colleagues on campuses and national organizations, and with alumni.

Responsibilities:
Undergraduate, Graduate and Summer Admissions
The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing the academic aspects of the admissions process including: review of applications, handling appeals, special academic programs liaison and Hebrew placement exams.

II) Recruiting and Promotion
The Assistant Director will plan and attend recruiting trips across the US.
 
III) Additional Responsibilities
Assist the Director with overall recruitment plan; market research, coordination of promotional mailings, advertising plan and development of new relationships with appropriate US college/university faculty; the planning of student orientations in the United States; and overseeing the Admissions Officer.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is an alumna/us of the Rothberg International School with strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with a wide audience (students, parents, faculty and administrators) in a service-oriented environment.  A Masters Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related-field, at least three years of full-time work experience, familiarity with computer applications (database and word processing), attention to detail, and a team-oriented approach.  Fluency in Hebrew and/or familiarity with the Israeli system of higher education is preferred. A valid driver’s license and travel within the US and to Israel is also required.

Improve your Hebrew with an intensive
three or six-week Ulpan!


The Conservative Yeshiva 2008 Summer Program provides an opportunity for individuals of all backgrounds to study the classic texts of Judaism with traditional hevruta and shiur learning.

  The program includes an intensive morning Ulpan and afternoon classes in Midrash, Tanach, Halacha, Tefillah, and Jewish Thought.  The advanced track includes an intensive morning Talmud class and afternoon shiurim in Halacha.  An intensive introductory text study track will also be offered each morning.  The program includes optional Friday morning tiyulim, weekly guest speakers, an opening Shabbat dinner, and weekly Gemilut Hesed (volunteer) activities.

Two three-week sessions will be held June 29-July 17 and July 20-August 7, 2008.  Sessions will not be repetitive.  Scholarships are available.
