In the spirit of Beaufort's international acclaim and recognition by the Academy Awards, the MASA Info and MAP staff have put together a list of our top Israeli film picks.  These are in no particular order. We are not the academy. Everyone is a winner. Enjoy ;)

1)Kazablan –קזבל
An embittered gang leader seeks the respect of his neighbors and the love of a young woman.

2)Ha-Kochavim Shel Shlomi (Shlomi's Stars) - הכוכבים של שלומי
16-year-old Shlomi is the caretaker and mediator of his disfunctional family. His schoolwork is suffering from his responsibilities at home.

3)Lalechet Al Hamayim (Walk On Water) - ללכת על המים
Israeli intelligence agent tasked with offing a Nazi has a crisis after he befriends one of his grandson.

4)Noodle – נודל
Miri, an El Al senior flight attendant, returns home exhausted to find her Chinese maid in her home, who asks her to watch her child for a few hours as she runs out to take care of some errands.  Through twists of fate, the child's mother doesn't return.

5)Sallah Shabati –  סאלח שבתי
Topol plays a Jewish refugee who moves his family to Israel shortly after the official establishment of that \"promised land.\" Unlike his hard-working new neighbors, Topol is shiftless and lazy, forever finding the easiest, most painless means to support his family. Amazingly, Topol becomes a hero when, while wheeling and dealing, he uncovers misappropriations and corner-cutting in Israel\'s housing industry.

6)Sof Ha'Olam Smola (Turn Left at the End of the World) – סוף העולם שמולה
The setting is the late sixties. Two immigrant families, one from Morocco and other from India become neighbours.

7)Beaufort – בופור
The true story of the last unit of soldiers on the legendary Beaufort outpost.

8)Ushpizin - האושפיזין
A revelatory – and humorous – look at the daily lives of ultra-Orthodox Jews learning, living, and loving in modern day Israel

9)Mivtza Safta (Operation Grandma) - מבצע סבתא
The film is a satirical comedy about the israeli military and kibbutz life. The story revolves around Alon (34), Benni (30) and Idan (22); three brothers who try to bury their beloved grandmother but their tight lives and a series of mistakes gives them a hard time doing that. The story takes place in Israel, in the fictional kibbutz "Asisim".

10)Yossi VeJager – וג'אגר יוסי
Based on a true story, Yossi & Jagger portrays the love affair of two Israeli officers in a remote army base on the Israeli-Lebanese border.

11) Knafayim Shvurot (Broken Wings) -  כנפיים שבורות
The unexpected death of the family patriarch throws every member of the Ullmann clan off course.

12)Techiyeh V'Tehiyeh (Go, Live, and Become) - תחיה ותהיה 
Live and Become or Va, Vis et Deviens is a 2005 film about an Ethiopian Jew in Israel. It was directed by Romanian-born Radu Mihăileanu.

13) Sodot (Secrets) - הסודות
Two brilliant young women discover their own voices in a repressive orthodox culture where females are forbidden to sing.
NO english Subtitles.

14) The Band's Visit 
Tells the story of an eight-man Egyptian police orchestra that gets lost in Israel and lands in a dead-end desert town, where bemused and amused locals take the musicians into their homes, and into their weary hearts.
