"Together we will realize the vision of Isaiah, who said 'I have set thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nation.' (Isaiah, 42:6)" from the MASA Pact
MASA is the historic and strategic partnership between the State of Israel and world Jewry, a significant investment by the top leadership of Israel's government and
heads of the Jewish Agency for Israel in the future of the next generation of Jews around the world. The goal: to bring a sizable number of Jewish young adults to spend a semester or a year in Israel in order to produce a profound and unprecedented impact on Jewish continuity. In addition, the presence of so many young Diaspora Jews in Israel will benefit Israeli society, culture and economy.
In the full operating year of MASA, planned for 2008-09, the government of Israel will invest 50 million dollars in the project. This will be matched by 50 million dollars from Jewish communities around the world to be raised by The Jewish Agency. The Jewish Agency will accomplish this by contributing from its own resources, from federations in Noth America, Keren Hayesod outside Norh America and from private donors. MASA, therefore, is a partnership with many shareholders.
Finally, our partners are also the participants and their families who will be paying their share in cost of MASA programs. Their personal and financial investment makes them a critical buildling block of this significant coalition.
MASA is grateful to the Government of Israel and the Jewish Agency for Israel whose ongoing support is helping to make the journey for so many young Jews possible.
