Significant developments have taken place in the field of Judaism in Israel during the last couple of decades. Various movements, some originating from Diaspora communities and others from Israel, affect and form the spiritual and social lives of Israeli Jews.
During the Shabbaton, we will meet with representatives of various movements and with community leaders, learn about the development and differences between the movements, clarify the unique issues characterizing life in Israel through coping with the challenges currently facing Jewish communities all over the world.
Goals: - Exposure to various personal and public interpretations of Jewish Life. - Introduction to active movements in Judaism, in Israel and their connections with Diaspora Jewry. - Encounter with community leaders and their perception of their roles. - Discuss the challenges facing Jewish communities, and Israel in particular, in the 21st century |
