Our Vision

Our Mission

  MASA PACT

In an agreement which was formally signed in May, 2005, the Government of Israel and the Jewish Agency for Israel officially established Project MASA and committed themselves to supporting and advancing its goals and vision.  The ceremony took place during the MASA launching at the historic site of Beit Guvrin.  (click here)
Below are excerpts from the MASA pact.

Our people have overcome much opposition, we withstood hard tests that no other people in the world have endured; we did this with the Jewish strength and unity, and through the belief in a shared destiny.  In order to ensure our future, we must mold anew and strengthen the partnership of the next generation amongst the Jewish People.

We, therefore, commit ourselves to work towards the creation of a shared cultural expanse for the young Jewish Israeli community, to cultivate their shared identity and to forge a mutual Jewish brotherhood and responsibility.

It is our belief that the thousands of young Jews who will join MASA -- "The Journey" -- will enrich their personal, Jewish and professional world, will strengthen the community from which they come, and donate to the strengthening of the relationship between Diaspora Jews and Israel, and strengthen Israeli society.

We call on every young Jewish person in the Diaspora to come for a formative year in Israel , during which they will become familiar with the land and the scenery, the people, and the Israeli culture, and be blessed with its accomplishments and undertake its challenges.

We, in Israel, commit ourselves to receive with open arms our young brethren from the Diaspora, to open our homes to them, to influence them with the good of Israeli society, to impart knowledge to them, and to learn from their Jewish experience.

We call upon the children of the young generation in Israel and the Diaspora to create a deep relationship and personal friendship, to know one another, to intensify the mutual connection between them, to create frameworks for discussion and volunteering, and to shape together the Jewish future.

Together we will realize the vision of Isaiah, who said "I have set thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nation." (Isaiah, 42:6)
